Operational Summary
CDTA has a $71 million annual operating budget (FY2008-2009). The CDTA bus fleet of 250 vehicles serve a 4-county service area that encompasses some 2300 square miles. Over 750,000 people live in the service area. The vast majority of CDTA’s 58 regular routes are centralized in a 150 square mile urbanized area. Close to 43,000 customer boardings take place each weekday on regular route buses. CDTA provides a range of service, including local, limited stop-express, park & ride and suburban shuttle service. In addition to regular route service, CDTA provides rural bus service to a number of communities in the service area.
CDTA also provides para transit service for people with disabilities. This service, which is called STAR (Special Transit Available by Request), is a demand-based curb-to-curb operation. About 25 specialized vehicles are assigned to this service which is the fastest growing segment of the CDTA travel market. Over 400 one-way trips are provided daily. Service standards for STAR are determined by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which requires the provision of complimentary para transit service in areas that have regular route service.
CDTA employs over 500 people who perform a variety of functions to support the organizations commitment to customers. Employees work in one of 3 CDTA facilities:
