Stackrow to Continue as CDTA Board Chairman

Stackrow and Board Members to Push Forward With Strong Vision for Future

ALBANY, NY (May 9, 2016) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced their slate of officers for the next year, including the reelection of David M. Stackrow as board chair.

  • Chairperson – David M. Stackrow
  • Vice-Chairperson – Georgeanna N. Lussier
  • Secretary – Joseph M. Spairana, Jr.
  • Treasurer – Arthur F. Young, Jr.

“I’m very pleased to be reappointed as Board Chairman,” said David M. Stackrow. “We have seen tremendous growth over the past several years and that comes about because of the collaborative sprit and resolve of my colleagues on the Board and the 650 men and women who work at CDTA. I’m looking forward to even better things for CDTA and furthering the authority’s reach in the community by building on our solid foundation.”

Stackrow has been a Board Member since 1995, making him one of the longest serving members in CDTA history. He lives in Poestenkill and represents Rensselaer County. In addition to his duties as Board Chairman, Stackrow chairs the CDTA Governance Committee. Under his leadership, CDTA has broken all-time ridership records for the past three years. For the most recent fiscal year, CDTA’s boarding count increased by 1% to 17.1 million. Ridership increases are attributed to an improved service network, Universal Access agreements with colleges and major employers, and introduction of real time information and mobile application upgrades. This work has been coordinated as part of a vision and direction for improvement set by Stackrow and the Board. Stackrow is also an active member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), serving on their Board of Directors and Chairman of the Transit Board Members Committee.

Georgeanna “Georgie” Lussier was reelected as the Board’s Vice Chairwoman. Ms. Lussier is a member of the Board’s Governance Committee and the Planning and Stakeholder Relations Committee. She was appointed to the CDTA Board in 2009. She is a resident of Saratoga Springs and represents Saratoga County.

Joseph M. Spairana, Jr. was reelected as the Board’s Secretary. Mr. Spairana is a member of the Board’s Performance Oversight Committee. He was appointed to the CDTA Board in 2008. He is a resident of Wynantskill and represents Rensselaer County.

Arthur F. Young Jr. was reelected as the Board’s Treasurer. Mr. Young is a member of the Board’s Performance Oversight Committee. He was appointed to the CDTA Board in 1995. He is a resident of Delmar and represents Albany County.

The other members of the CDTA Board are Denise A. Figueroa who represents Albany County, Norman L. Miller who represents Schenectady County, Thomas M. Owens who represents Albany County and Corey Bixby who represents Labor.
