SimpleFare makes CDTA Simply the Way to Go!
CDTA's fare system, called SimpleFare, was developed to simplify the fare structure and ease the ride for our customers.
$1 Base Fare
The base fare is $1. Zone charges and express surcharges have been eliminated and free transfers are no longer available. Each time you board the bus, the cost is $1, unless you use Day Card or a Swiper card.
$3 Day Card
The $3 Day Card is an unlimited use day pass. Day Cards are sold only on CDTA regular route buses and are valid on the day of purchase until the end of transit service that day. Please request Day Card when you board. Day Cards replace transfer prices in most cases.
Swiper
The Swiper card remains the best bus deal in and around town, offering unlimited rides, all the time. Perfect for commuters, college students and other frequent riders, Swiper offers an affordable way to move around the Capital Region.
Swiper cards can be purchased online, over the phone, by mail and in person at CDTA and at select Hannaford, Bank of America and Key Bank locations. Two kinds of Swipers are available, the 5-Day costs $36 per month and the 7-Day costs $44 per month.
Swiper users receive at least a 10% discount on the cash fare. Swiper users whose employers participate in CDTA's Corporate Swiper program may enjoy even greater savings.
CDTA's Summer Fun Pass
This pass allows kids 16 and under to ride all of CDTA's regular routes anytime from July 1 through August 31 for one low price of $17. Learn more about CDTA's Summer Fun Pass.
Half Fare
Under the SimpleFare structure, seniors and customers with disabilities with a valid ID card pay half fare all the time. Half-fare Swipers are also available. If you are 65 or older or have a disability, you may qualify for a CDTA reduced fare card. Cards are issued by your local Department for Aging.
