Partnership to Provide Access to Grafton Lakes for Troy Youths

TROY, NY (July 3, 2018) A partnership between the Capital District Transportation Authority, Rensselaer County, the City of Troy and the Troy Boys and Girls Club will provide access to Grafton Lakes State Park for Troy youths during the summer months, was announced on Tuesday at a news conference at the Troy Boys and Girls Club.

“We have been providing this service to the Capital Region for more than 25 years now. We are fortunate to work with great partners in Rensselaer County, that help promote it and support it.” said David M. Stackrow, CDTA Board Member for Rensselaer County. “As the region’s transportation leader, we continually look for ways to expand our services and meet the needs of the communities that we serve. This service to Grafton does just that. It provides access to our customers and now the youths at the Boys and Girls Club right here in Troy.”

CDTA will provide service to and from Grafton from the Boys and Girls Club and other selected spots in the city starting July 4 and running until September 3. The county and city will purchase CDTA Navigator Summer Fun Passes for kids with Boys and Girls Club membership. Customers are also able to access the Route #96 bus along the route between Troy and Grafton. Schedule information can be found at www.cdta.org.

“We want to help provide access to kids from Troy and surrounding communities to the summer fun and adventure offered at Grafton Lakes State Park. Rensselaer County has tremendous natural beauty, and one of the most beautiful spots in our county is at the park in Grafton,” said County Executive Steve McLaughlin.

“The City of Troy is thrilled to partner with CDTA and Rensselaer County to provide this exciting recreational opportunity for young people in our community this summer,” said Mayor Patrick Madden. “Thanks to organizations like the Troy Boys & Girls Club local kids can experience another summer of fun and excitement in the Collar City and beyond.”

Grafton Lakes State Park offers swimming, hiking, picnic areas, bicycling areas, nature trails, fishing, a playground, and boat rentals.
