CDTA OFFERS NEW PREMIUM PARKING PROGRAM AT RENSSELAER RAIL STATION

August 31, 2009

(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has introduced a new premium parking program, called “Key to Convenience”, that offers Amtrak customers the opportunity to reserve guaranteed parking space inside the garage at the Rensselaer Rail Station. Through this program, Amtrak customers can “rent” the same spot on a monthly basis for up to 3 months at a time.

Seventeen premium spots are available for reservation on a “first come, first served” basis for a flat fee of $325.00 per month to be paid by cash or credit card. Upon payment, customers are assigned a spot with a number, and given a proximity card and a lock to secure their space.

The reserved parking spots are secured using a 24” high cylinder device, which is attached to the floor of the garage in the middle of each reserved space. To operate it, customers simply unlock the cylinder and push it down before they drive the car into the
spot. When leaving, customers pull the cylinder upright and lock it to block off the space. The Rensselaer Rail Station Parking Garage first opened in 2002 and is operated by Maiden Lane, LLC.
