SCCC and CDTA Announce Partnership Offering Students Universal Access to CDTA Buses

Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) and Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) together announced a new pilot program that offers all of SCCC’s over 6,000 students the opportunity to access the entire CDTA route network using college ID cards during the 2011-12 school year.  

CDTA OFFERS FREE ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY TO PUBLIC

(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is offering the public an opportunity to participate in a free English Language Learner (ELL) program to begin on Thursday, September 8, 2011 and held at the CDTA Technical Training Center at 110 Watervliet Avenue in Albany. The program, to be taught every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5pm-8pm, will give CDTA employees and community members the opportunity to enhance their English skills through a curriculum that focuses on reading, writing and speaking.

CDTA ANNOUNCES 2011 LABOR DAY SERVICE SCHEDULE

(ALBANY) - The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced that on Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2011, CDTA buses will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule. Only bus routes that normally operate on Sundays will be in service. Regular weekday service will resume on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

CDTA INTRODUCES ONLINE STAR RESERVATION OPTIONS

(ALBANY, NY) - The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is introducing online website capabilities to its STAR customers to make or cancel STAR reservations and to receive information related to STAR services.  This new option is provided through technology software upgrades to www.cdta.org and will facilitate the use of STAR (Special Transportation Available by Request)

August 17, 2011 (Albany, NY) – Austin’s School of Spa Technology and CDTA today unveiled a new ad campaign featuring Austin’s School of Spa Technology students. This is the first time the school has featured its own students in a creative advertising campaign. Austin’s School of Spa Technology launched the new campaign with the unveiling of a CDTA bus at the Albany campus this morning.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Every day, the wheels on these CDTA buses go round and round to bring people where they need to go. Even people you might not suspect.

Postal worker Harold Lawton said, "I take the bus. I walk up a couple of blocks here and the bus picks me up and I'm dropped off close to where I start."

In fact, for the last 19 years, Lawton has made his way to his mail route in Albany by hopping on public transportation. He makes 900 individual stops to deliver mail and says riding the bus just makes sense and costs less cents.

August 8th Schenectady Reroutes to Accommodate Movie Shoot

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced that on Monday, August 8, 2011, beginning at approximately 9:30am, CDTA will reroute the following routes in Schenectady due to road closures to accommodate a movie shoot. Elm Street, State Street and Division Street will be closed to traffic. Bus stops in that area will be temporarily closed or moved on Monday, August 8th until the end of the movie shoot.

CDTA and Pine Hills neighborhood introduced 26 new safe bike parking spaces

(Albany, NY)-- CDTA and members of the Pine Hills neighborhood held a hold ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 2 at 7 p.m. in front of 1092 Madison Avenue in Albany to celebrate the installation of thirteen new bike racks (26 new safe bicycle parking spaces) throughout the upper Madison Avenue area in Albany. The ribbon-cutting was held in conjunction with the Pine Hills National Night Out (NNO), a national crime awareness event that promotes police-community partnerships.
