Community and First Responders Pull Together for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

ALBANY, NY (October 16, 2026) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) celebrated the winners of its 10th annual Pink Bus Pull on Friday, October 16, bringing together community organizations, first responders, and local businesses to raise awareness and support for the American Cancer Society’s Men Wear Pink campaign. This year’s event featured two competition categories, Community and First Responders, with top teams racing against the clock to pull a 30,000-pound pink bus 30 feet.

In the Community category, Siena Baseball took home the top honor, followed by LaChance Insurance Agency in second place and LeChase Construction rounding out the top three.

In the First Responders category, Schenectady Police claimed first place, followed by Albany County Corrections in second and Albany Fire Department in third.

Teams of eight put their strength and teamwork to the test, demonstrating the Capital Region’s commitment to supporting the fight against breast cancer. The annual event brings together organizations from across the region for friendly competition while raising critical funds for the American Cancer Society.

For the 10th consecutive year, CDTA partnered with the American Cancer Society through its Men Wear Pink campaign. Throughout October, CDTA’s iconic pink buses travel Capital Region streets to raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. Materials and decals to transform the pink buses were generously donated by Lamar Advertising and Seifert Transit Graphics. Broadview Federal Credit Union is once again supporting the Real Kids Wear Pink STAR bus with its logo displayed on the bus.

So far this year, CDTA has raised more than $9,000 for the campaign. CDTA has raised nearly $135,000 over the last ten years for the American Cancer Society.
