Schenectady Division Operators Take Top Spots
ALBANY, NY (June 8, 2017) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has announced the top finishers of the 32nd annual Bus Operator Roadeo competition held earlier today at UAlbany. More than 25 Operators were judged on a rigid, scored course, consisting of 13 different driving challenges. Local law enforcement officials volunteered as judges assessed contestant driving skills, knowledge of safety rules and time performance.
- First Place: Sammy Vengersammy, Schenectady Operator, 9 years of Service
- Second Place: Keith Strait, Schenectady Operator, 32 years as an operator
- Third Place: Mark Hichman, Schenectady Division, 23 years of service
- Rookie Award: Fred Brooks, Albany Division, 1 year of service
The top three finishers will represent CDTA at the New York State Operator Roadeo held in the fall. NYS Roadeo top finishers will have the opportunity to compete in the International Roadeo held annually in the spring.
