CDPHP Cycle! Exceeds Season Two Expectations

CDPHP Cycle Season Two Ender

December 05, 2018

More than 35,000 trips taken since the program’s inception and nearly 6,600 members now part of the CDPHP Cycle! family

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and CDPHP wrapped up the second season of CDPHP Cycle! on December 5, with results that blew expectations out of the water. More than 4,000 new members joined this year with just over 11,000 trips taken around Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga Springs.

In July of 2018, 10 specialty bikes – dubbed ‘unicorns’ – debuted at racks throughout the CDPHP Cycle! service area. The community was invited to find a unicorn bike, take a ride, and upload photos to social media. CDTA generously committed to contributing all proceeds from unicorn bike rides to CDPHP The Foundation, with a match by Rose & Kiernan, Inc. Today, CDTA and Rose & Kiernan, Inc., presented CDPHP The Foundation with a $2,000 corporate contribution.

“Supporting CDPHP Cycle! was a no-brainer from the start, but when I see results like these, it further cements our commitment to giving our community a healthier mode of transportation to choose from,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO of CDPHP. “I’m proud of our partnership with CDTA and thank them and Rose & Kiernan, Inc., for their generosity toward CDPHP The Foundation.”

“We are really proud and encouraged by season two results,” said Carm Basile, CEO of CDTA. “From the beginning, CDPHP Cycle! has been about integrating another mobility option for our region and making it accessible for our communities. With more than 35,000 trips taken since the program’s inception and nearly 6,600 members now part of the CDPHP Cycle! family, we are anticipating big things for the 2019 riding season.”

CDPHP Cycle! will resume in April 2019. For more information, including rental fees, rack locations, and more, visit www.cdphpcycle.com.
