Contest Will Honor Those Who Make the Capital Region a Better Place to Live and Work During CDTA’s Golden Anniversary Year

ALBANY, NY (July 1, 2020) CDTA has announced a nomination-style award that will be given to 50 Community Champions as the organization celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2020.

“In the past half century, we as a community have faced challenges which have tested our resolve,” said Carm Basile, Chief Executive Officer of CDTA. “We have witnessed this recently with the COVID-19 pandemic and we have seen the heart of our community give, support and help those in need. As we look back on five decades, there have been so many people who have stepped up and given back to our community and want to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate them.”

CDTA’s 50 Community Champions is currently accepting nominations. Half of those awarded will be members of the CDTA family and the other half will be members of the public. Whether it’s someone who delivers groceries to an elderly neighbor down the street, a frontline health care worker saving lives or a CDTA operator who made your day by smiling, we want to honor them.

The nomination period begins on Wednesday, July 1 and concludes on Sunday, July 26. Nominations for both employees and community members should include a short narrative about how their good deeds have benefited the region. The nominations will be accepted through the following link https://www.cdta.org/cdta50 and also be accepted through CDTA social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #CDTA50.

A selection committee will choose the honorees and the winners will be highlighted. CDTA will announce the 50 Community Champions later this summer.

Throughout the pandemic and economic pause, CDTA has continued to serve the Capital Region by providing transportation to essential workers. In this time CDTA has reduced risk and enhanced safety measures for its operators and customers.
