Extra Service Will Run to Accommodate Empire State Plaza Fireworks Show

ALBANY, NY (July 1, 2019) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Thursday, July 4, 2019 in observance of Independence Day. There will be no Northway Xpress (NX) service. All regular service will resume on Friday, July 5, 2019. The CDTA Sales window at 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and will reopen on Friday, July 5 at 9:00 a.m.

CDTA will provide extra service to accommodate New York State’s Fourth of July Celebration at the Empire State Plaza, including special service that will operate after the fireworks are done. Extra buses will be available on Washington Avenue between South Swan and Hawk Streets at the conclusion of the fireworks display. STAR service will also be available to accommodate customers with disabilities. Anyone needing more information regarding 4th of July service or other CDTA services is encouraged to contact CDTA’s Customer Information Center at 482-8822 or visit the CDTA website at www.cdta.org. Customer service representatives are on duty 6am-7pm weekdays and 8:30am-6pm Saturday and 8:30am - 5pm Sunday and holidays.

On Thursday 4, July 2019 CDTA will be providing additional bus service before and after the fireworks display at the Empire State Plaza. The Fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:15pm and end at 10pm.

Before the Fireworks: CDTA will provide additional service on the #13, #18 and the #214 Line to accommodate patrons getting to the fire work show. These lines will also be available at the conclusion of the show.

     #13 Eastbound – Leaving Price Chopper Slingerlands at 6:15pm and 7pm.

    #18 Eastbound – Leaving Price Chopper Slingerlands at 7:15pm.

    #214 Westbound – Leaving Wal-Mart Rensselaer at 7:15pm. 

After the Fireworks: All CDTA buses will be lined up on Washington Avenue between South-Swan and Hawk Street and will depart 15 minutes after completion of the Fireworks. Buses will be lined up as followed:

On the south side of Washington Ave Between Swan and Hawk:

      #214 Eastbound to Rensselaer.

      #22 Northbound to Troy; city routes will become available in downtown Troy

On the north side of Washington Ave Between Swan and Hawk:

#1 Westbound

#10 Westbound

#12 Westbound

#13 Westbound

#18 Westbound

#182 Northbound and #905 Westbound

City routes will become available in downtown Schenectady.
