CDTA Named Best Mid-Size Public Transportation System in North America
ALBANY, NY (October 10, 2017) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) was honored at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Annual Meeting and Expo in Atlanta, Georgia today. CDTA accepted its award for Best Mid-Size Public Transportation System in North America for 2017.
“This is a big day for the CDTA family,” said CDTA Chairman of the Board, David M. Stackrow. “Accepting this prestigious award is not only an honor for our organization, but for our entire region. It’s a privilege to accept this award along with fellow Board Members and employees. We’re excited to bring this award home and share it with our entire community.”
The CDTA Board of Directors developed an Innovation Platform that has improved the service network, reduced operating costs, and sharpened CDTA’s community image. Those changes have led to incredible results. CDTA ridership has increased by 25% over the past six years, setting an all-time record in the process. The hallmarks of the plan include projects like Upstate New York’s first Bus Rapid Transit service, a successful Universal Access rider program, and community engagement.
