Iconic Pink Buses will Operate on Capital Region Streets During the Month of October; Annual Bus Pull to be Held October 21

ALBANY, NY (October 3, 2020) CDTA and the American Cancer Society are teaming up once again in the fight against breast cancer and the Real Men Wear Pink campaign.

“This is always a great way to bring our employees together,” said CDTA CEO Carm Basile. “There is so much excitement surrounding the roll out of our pink buses. This campaign not only raises critical dollars for the American Cancer Society, but it brings our entire workforce together, all working towards finding a cure for breast cancer. It’s always great to see the buses out in the community raising awareness.”

The Capital Region community will see the iconic pink CDTA buses on the streets to raise awareness and support for breast cancer research. All the materials to transform CDTA Bus were generously donated by Lamar Advertising, NAPA Automotive Finishes, and Seifert Transit Graphics.

CDTA will once again host its annual Pink Bus Pull on Friday, October 21, 2022. Teams from law enforcement, emergency services, health care, financial, media and other corporate organizations come together to raise money and win bragging rights. You can catch the event live on our CDTA Facebook page. (@rideCDTA)

In 2021, the Albany County Sheriff’s Department took home the coveted pink bus trophy as the champions of the 5th annual pink bus pull. Coming in second place, the Albany Fire Department and rounding out the top three, the Menands Police Department. Nearly $3,500 was raised at the event.

The pink buses are painted each year by CDTA paint shop technicians. Last year, CDTA employees helped raised nearly $10,000 for the Real Men Wear Pink campaign and more than $60,000 over the last five years.
