Stroller only areas will on select bus routes for families to utilize
ALBANY, NY (December 14, 2025) The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) will launch a Stroller Pilot Program on Monday, December 15, 2025, on select bus routes to make travel more convenient for customers riding with young children. This pilot comes in direct response to employee and customer feedback and reflects CDTA’s ongoing commitment to continually improving customer experience.
As part of the pilot, select buses in CDTA’s fleet will have a new open area with signage clearly designating the space as a “Stroller Area.” Customers boarding with a stroller may keep their child seated in the stroller, with the brakes applied, while positioned in the designated stroller spot. There is no requirement to fold the stroller when using the stroller area. CDTA’s current policy requires parents to remove their child from the stroller and fold it up.
During this pilot program, each bus can accommodate only one open stroller at a time. If another customer with a stroller boards and the designated area is already in use, operators may ask the customer to fold the stroller or wait for the next bus.
The routes part of this pilot program include: #905, #763, #351, #600, #601, #605, #450, #370, #352, #353, #452, and #810.
CDTA encourages customers to share their experiences during the pilot through CDTA’s website. Anyone needing more information about the Stroller Pilot Program can contact CDTA’s Customer Service Center at (518) 482-8822. Customer service representatives are on duty from 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. weekdays and 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday and from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.
