CDTA KICKS OFF CITY OF ALBANY ALIVE AT FIVE CONCERT SERIES

June 06, 2012

This year Alive at Five features the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) as a preferred transportation partner for concerts. CDTA will kick-off the City of Albany’s summer concert series by presenting Dave Mason, (formerly of Traffic), and the Emerald City Band. The partnership reinforces the message that public transit helps to reduce traffic congestion, while providing a safe and environmentally-sound way to get around the Capital Region. .

A CDTA hybrid diesel electric bus will be on display at the foot of the pedestrian bridge on Broadway. Attendees who board the bus can enter their name and contact information for a chance to win a 31-day rolling pass or 10-trip debit cards. CDTA Travel Trainers will be available to assist event attendees with travel itineraries and hand out information. There are a number of convenient and affordable transit routes available from State Street, Broadway and South Pearl Streets.

CDTA ridership increased to nearly 15 million last year, the 2nd highest total in a quarter century, trailing only the 15.4 million customers that boarded in fiscal year 2008-09. A large portion of the increases came from the Albany Route Restructuring, which rolled out in November 2011.

The City of Albany and CDTA invite event attendees to avoid the hassles of driving and get connected to just about anywhere in the Capital Region by taking the bus. Public transit is the most environmentally-sound and affordable way to enjoy Alive at Five.
