CDTA ROLLS OUT NEW MOBILE WEBSITE

February 11, 2013

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has unveiled a new mobile version of its website accessible from PDAs and smartphones that provides customers with another tool to quickly access CDTA information. The mobile website, supported through JQuery Mobile, will automatically redirect phone and tablet devices to the updated interface.

Customers may access the mobile version by logging onto http://www.cdta.org/mobile. The mobile version offers faster downloads, improved search capabilities and allows customers to purchase CDTA fare media.

Users will see specific sections on the new mobile website for schedules, service advisories, BusTime (Real Time Information for BusPlus), NextBus scheduled time points, trip planning, an updated news feed, easy touch contact information and the ability to purchase passes.

“It’s important for us to stay at the forefront of technology as the use of mobile devices continues to be an area of growth among our customers,” said CDTA Chairwoman Denise Figueroa. “Offering better tools that provide quicker access to schedule information and the ability to purchase passes make riding more convenient and attractive to potential riders.”

According to Alexa website for the Capital Region, CDTA ranks 13 in popularity among website users in the cities of Albany-Schenectady-Troy. The number of mobile visits to CDTA’s website has more than doubled from last year with 58% connecting to the trip planner and route schedules being the most viewed pages. Mobile visits to CDTA’s Bustime application (for BusPlus real time information) have tripled over the last year and the Android platform is the most popular mobile device used by CDTA customers.
