Authority Teams up with Live Nation to Provide Concert Goers New Travel Option

(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and Live Nation have announced a new partnership to provide shuttle service to select Saratoga Performing Arts Center events. Concert goers will have a reliable and affordable transportation option to get to the most popular shows of the summer, while reducing parking costs and congestion.

“We are excited to partner with Live Nation and SPAC to offer concert goers a safe and affordable driving alternative this summer while attending their favorite shows,” said CDTA Chairman David M. Stackrow. “Our new trolley service will help facilitate traffic flow, ease parking and give concert goers a safe and stress-free night out by leaving the driving to us. We also appreciate the support of the Saratoga County Chamber to promote the seasonal trolley service to visitors every year.”

The service, provided by CDTA’s historic summer trolleys, will begin on Saturday, May 25th and will operate 6:00pm – 12:00am for the first of two annual Dave Matthews Band concerts. The remainder of the trolley service schedule will operate every 15 minutes from 10:45pm – 12:30am between SPAC and Congress Park in downtown Saratoga Springs. Concert goers can get to the SPAC concerts from Downtown Saratoga using CDTA’s regular summer trolley service (Route # 875) and return to Congress Park using the special SPAC trolley service after the concert ends. Each trip on the trolley will cost the standard CDTA $1.50 fare.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work with CDTA to extend the SPAC – Downtown Saratoga Trolley service for certain Live Nation concerts so our guests can utilize this economical, convenient and environmentally-friendly transportation to and from SPAC,” said Live Nation General Manager John Huff. “I hope that our guests will quickly embrace this new service so we can help reduce traffic and hopefully expand the Trolley service to more shows in future seasons.”

Shuttle service will be provided on the following dates/shows:

• May 25-26: Dave Matthews Band
• June 16: Rascal Flatts
• June 23: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
• July 5, 6 & 7: Phish
• August 11: Jason Aldean
• August 25: Luke Bryan
• August 30: John Mayer
• August 31: Zac Brown Band

Regular Saratoga Springs Summer trolley service will begin on Sunday, May 26th and operate on 30-minute frequency from 12:00pm – 8:00pm with stops at SPAC/Hall of Springs, the Gideon Putnam Hotel, the Museum of Dance, Congress Park, Nelson Avenue, the Saratoga Racecourse and Saratoga Raceway and Casino.

“We applaud the partnership between CDTA and Live Nation to help those attending concerts to obtain safe and reliable public transportation to and from the downtown and SPAC,” said Todd Shimkus, President of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. “This summer’s Live Nation concert schedule at SPAC is a huge boost for our tourism sector. We intend to promote this transportation option for concert goers at our information booth just outside of Congress Park and we anticipate that downtown hotels, restaurants and retailers will do the same.”
