SCHENECTADY OPERATOR RZESZUTO FINISHES FIRST PLACE IN 2013 CDTA BUS OPERATOR ROADEO COMPETITION

(Albany, NY)  – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced the top three finishers of the 2013 annual CDTA Bus Roadeo competition held today at Crossgates Mall parking lot. This is the 26th CDTA Bus Operator Roadeo competition organized since 1985. 

First Place Finisher:           Robert Rzeszuto

Second Place Finisher:      Mark Hichman

19 years of service 

Third Place Finisher:          Samuel Vengersammy
                                          
Schenectady Division
                                          
5 years of service  

Schenectady Operator Robert Rzeszuto scored “First Place” in the 2013 CDTA Bus Roadeo competition. Mr. Rzeszuto also placed 1st in the 2007 CDTA Roadeo, 2nd in both the 2001 and the 2011 CDTA Roadeo, and 3rd in the 2003 CDTA Roadeo. All of the top finishers go on to represent CDTA in the New York State Roadeo competition this fall. Finalists in the NYS Roadeo have the opportunity to compete in the International Roadeo held annually in the spring.  

Last year’s CDTA Roadeo winner Keith Strait recently competed in the 2013 APTA International Bus Roadeo in Indianapolis, Indiana; competing side-by-side with bus operators from across the country at the highest level. He placed 19th out of 50+ of the top national operators. 

CDTA’s annual maintenance Roadeo will be held later this year. Last year’s annual Maintenance Roadeo winners: Technicians David Williams, Phil Jordan and Ken Stager Jr also participated in the recent 2013 APTA Roadeo.
