CDTA ANNOUNCES SERVICE CHANGES TOOK EFFECT AUGUST 25

(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) has announced a new batch of service changes that went into effect on Sunday, August 25, 2013. The service enhancements will meet growing demand for service on BusPlus, major trunk routes and to address the expansion of its Universal Access program. Some minor adjustments will be made on a few routes to improve service reliability.

Major Service Changes include:

  • Route #905 (BusPlus, Albany-Schenectady): Route #905 frequency will go from 30 to 15 minutes on weekday evenings (5:00pm-7:00pm). The BusPlus route will be extended to serve a new station at the Albany Bus Terminal on Broadway in downtown Albany.

  • Route #224 (Albany-Troy-Rensselaer): Route #224 mid-day frequency will go from 45 to 30 minutes while an additional time point will be added in South Troy.

  • Route #280 (Troy-Albia): Route #280 frequency will change from 45 to 50 minutes.

  • Route #286 (RPI Shuttle): Route #286 will have a new route pattern and schedule on nights and weekends.  

Minor Service Changes include:

  • Route #182 (Troy-Cohoes-Latham-Albany): Route #182 will now operate in both directions at Latham Farms with southbound trips stopping at the Walmart side of the plaza and northbound trips stopping at the Hannaford side. There will be a new stop added to access Latham Circle Mall at Route 2 & Herbert Drive. 

  • Route #22 (Albany-Troy-Watervliet): Route #22 will be adjusted slightly with increased service during the mid-day to improve on-time performance. It will no longer operate on Saratoga Street, and will now operate on I-787 while serving Catholic High school.

  • Route #6 (Second/Whitehall): Route #6 will be adjusted slightly to improve on-time performance and reduce southbound trip times.

  • Route #13 (New Scotland): Route #13 schedule will be adjusted slightly to reduce travel times.

  • Route #116 (Albany/Menands): Route #116 schedule will be adjusted slightly between Mount Hope and Pearl Street to improve on-time reliability.
