40th Anniversary Retrospective - CDTA's 10 Trip Ticket Introduced 10/2007

What has become a very popular fare media product, the 10-trip pass was rolled out on October 1, 2007.  We spoke with Mike Bruno, Supervisor of Treasury on his recollections about the switch from the famed tokens to swiper cards. “It basically was a two-fold process where the technology of the industry was going towards passes and away from tokens,” Bruno told us. “We decided to move in that direction because fare box technology allowed us to make the switch.

CDTA to receive 3.2 million to install Solar Panel Roof on Albany Facility

ALBANY – Congressman Paul Tonko announced today that the Department of Transportation has awarded the Capital District Transportation Authority a $3.2 million grant which will be used to replace the roofs of three CDTA buildings in Albany. This grant was awarded through the Federal Transit Administration’s “State of Good Repair” program, and was one of $776 million in grants awarded today to 152 transit providers throughout the country.
 

CDTA Announces Columbus Day Bus Service

(Albany, NY)  The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced that on Columbus Day, Monday, October 11, 2010, buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule except for NX Northway Xpress Commuter service, which will not operate.     

Schenectady Intermodal Train Station Project Receives Funding

CDTA recently received a $4.2 million dollar state grant related to the Schenectady Intermodal Station. The proposed project is located at 332 Erie Boulevard in Schenectady along the Empire Corridor. The project will demolish the existing Amtrak station and rebuild an intermodal center.

ACCA ENTERS INTO PLANNING AGREEMENT WITH CDTA FOR NEW TRANSPORTATION HUB AND PARKING GARAGE

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) unanimously voted to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) at its September board meeting. The MOU is a mapping document by which together the ACCA and CDTA will advance with the planning efforts for a new intermodal transportation facility to replace the current bus station. 
 

CDTA Teams with Cerebral Palsy Associations of NYS to Host an Art Exhibit At Rensselaer Rail Station

The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State (CP of NYS) have partnered to create an exhibition of art work produced by people with disabilities at the Rensselaer Rail Station, on display from September 23 through October 15.
 

CDTA Route 409 Diamond Hunt Winner Announced

CDTA, Star 101.3FM and Hannoush Jewelers recently held the CDTA Travelling Diamond Hunt to raise awareness on the new Route 409 serving Clifton Park, Malta and Saratoga Springs.  Star 101.3 FM listeners were driven to the Star Morning Crew facebook page to view a Diamond photo and to call Star 101.3 FM Morning show hosts Ric Mitchell and Brianne to guess the location of the diamond.

CDTA TO CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH 40 CENT RIDE DAY

September 2, 2010
(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is currently celebrating 40 years of service. In honor of this milestone, CDTA will roll back to its original fare on Thursday, September 16, 2010. For this one day, people who use CDTA’s regular route, STAR, and NX Northway Commuter services may ride any bus for just 40 cents.
