CDTA DONATES FULL SIZE BUS TO BOCES FOR STUDENT TRAINING

(Albany, NY) – Today, the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and BOCES Capital Region Career & Technical School together announced the donation of a retired CDTA bus for training use in the BOCES Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Repair class. The donated 40-foot 1998 Orion 6 bus, equipped with an M-11 Cummins diesel engine, Allison automatic transmission, and Thermo-King HVAC system, will serve as a hands-on learning tool for students to work with to resolve real-life, mechanical troubleshooting exercise

CDTA RECEIVES 2011 NYBC CHAMPION AWARD

(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) was presented with 2011 Champion Award from the New York State Bicycle Coalition in recognition of notable achievements promoting bicycling in New York State at its annual New York State Bike Summit on April 28th at West Capital Park next to the State Capital.  

CDTA to Provide Free Shuttle Service For 2011 Albany Tulip Festival Attendees

(Albany, NY) – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced that it will provide a special free shuttle service for the 2011 Albany Tulip Festival event held in Washington Park, to help ease parking and traffic congestion for attendees. The shuttle service will operate on Saturday, May 7th and Sunday, May 8thfrom 12- 6:30pm, and will travel to Washington Park from two Park and Ride lot locations: Elk and Hawk Streets and the OGS parking garage on Madison Avenue and Eagle Street.   

Postal Service Delivers a Greener America Stamps Encourage the Environment

(Albany, New York – April 21, 2011)   Today at a ceremony held at the Karner Road General Mail Facility, the Postmaster of Albany, Joseph Finan, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Judith Enck and and CDTA Chief Executive Officer Carm Basile unveiled the U.S. Postal Service’s new Go Green stamps.

By now you know BusPlus, Route #905, offers a quick one-seat ride between downtown Schenectady and downtown Albany on new silver and red hybrid buses that will ONLY stop at the similarly-branded 18 stations.

CDTA STEPS UP BUSPLUS PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) today announced details of its public education campaign for its new limited stop BusPlus service as it gears up for rollout next week. BusPlus service on Route 5 began on April 3, 2011 with operation of its new Route 5 Park-and-Ride express service to began on April 4th. The campaign focuses on increasing awareness about the new service, its benefits and to educate riders on how to use it.

 ALBANY, NY – Together with leaders in government, business and the community, the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) announced today the introduction of upstate New York’s first bus rapid transit service – a premium limited stop service connecting downtown Albany and downtown Schenectady – to provide quicker commutes for riders while reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality and stimulating economic development in the Capital Region.
